A Better Front Door With Feng Shui: Training, Taming Energy Flow

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:16 am

The front door of your home is not only the focal point of your house; it’s where you, your family, and visitors regularly enter and exit your home, making it a major outlet of incoming and outgoing energy. Known as the “mouth of chi,” the main door is where the home absorbs much of its energy nourishment. But sometimes the architectural design over the entrance of your home presents a challenge for the flow of energy, which is when it’s time to consult a feng shui practitioner or take some feng shui classes to learn ways to slow down the energy once it comes into the door, focusing it and redirecting it to the rest of the house. For example, if the staircase to the upstairs or basement is located very close to the entrance and the foyer is small, a feng shui cure can help you rework the flow of energy so it doesn’t come in the door and quickly rush upstairs or downstairs, leaving the ground floor of your home without energy nourishment.

To learn how to slow down, focus, and guide energy, you may consider checking out a few feng shui classes in your area, whether you are interested in feng shui certification or just the information. You’ll learn that strategically placed items can help you work with the small foyer space that you have to keep energy on the ground floor when it comes in the entrance. A large vase with flowers or a houseplant, art, a piece of furniture, or a mirror can accomplish this purpose, although if you do decide to use a mirror it shouldn’t face the entrance directly, as this will push energy away and out of the home instead of into the home.

A main entrance with a small foyer and a staircase facing the door is only one of the architectural designs that could benefit from a consultation from a professional with feng shui training. Feng shui cures are often specific to an individual space and its needs, so a feng shui consultant will be able to improve the flow of chi in your home and will have the knowledge to use more advanced aspects of feng shui. Determining the bagua (feng shui energy map) of your home, for example, will produce a host of feng shui cures like painting the walls certain colors and other tactics that will support the five elements of feng shui.

A front door with good feng shui can have a remarkable effect on your health, success, and relationships by providing you and your family with nourishing energy that sustains every aspect of your life.

Tips For Choosing The Best European Cruise

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:06 am

Author: Eurotraveler

When I use the phrase "Best European Cruise" I am not referring to the very best vacation money can buy, but rather the greatest amount of luxury and adventure to be found without slipping the restraints of your budget. As much as we’d like to be able to ignore our accountants and max out our credit cards it is an unrealistic dream, particularly in these difficult financial times. That being said, there is nothing stopping you from finding the best European cruise deal you can with the money you have available to you. Here are a few tips to going about that:

1 - Determine which ports of call you would like to visit. Though the bulk of your time will be spent aboard the ship the highlights of your trip will be the time you spend visiting Europe’s amazing historic cities. If you’ve always wanted to see Rome, or Athens, or Barcelona then you need to plan your itinerary around one or many such destinations. Visiting the Sistine Chapel or St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome might bring you more joy than the rest of your journey combined, so you really need to focus in one this one aspect of your cruise planning more than any other. Don’t just concentrate on the cities in the Mediterranean basin. You can also enjoy wonderful cruises in the Baltic, Black or Caspian Seas. European river cruises are also immensely popular and are a fabulous way to explore inland Europe.

2 - Decide how long you want to be at sea. A European cruise can vary widely in length from a quick 5 day trip to a voyages that last nearly a month. Obviously the longer the cruise the more money you can expect to pay. This is an important consideration in planning your trip. You don’t want to come halfway around the world just to turn around and head home a day after finally getting over your jet lag. On the other hand you don’t want to have to sell all your worldly possessions in order to finance your vacation. Find a compromise that will make the long journey worthwhile without leaving you in the poor house. If no such compromise exists then you might want to consider holding off and taking the trip at a later date.

3 - Figure out what luxuries and amenities you want aboard ship. As I mentioned above the highlight of your trip will be the amazing cities you’ll visit, but don’t forget that much of your time will still be spent aboard ship. You want there to be enough to see and do to keep you from growing bored on your cruise. Find out what kind of entertainment each cruise line offers, what other amenities such as pools, hot tubs, fitness facilities, climbing walls etc. can be enjoyed, and what the dining experience will be like. Depending on the level of luxury the price can fluctuate significantly. Ultimately choosing the best European cruise is in your hands. By following these simple steps you should be able to plan a cruise vacation that you will remember for a lifetime without putting undue financial stress upon yourself and your family.

Why romantic travel for happiness?

  • Because there is nothing more romantic and fine, than travel together.
  • Because on the Earth there are places specially created for love where time goes slowly, confusing days, hours and centuries, maps and plans, turning a head and overturning soul.
  • Because in travel feelings and sensuality wake up, and life becomes even finer, the world anew finds bright paints, colored with love.     An idea about travel, sounds like a music, especially when we mentally imagine with what we will have to come into contact in the unknown country, at a distance of thousand kilometers from the native land.

A romantic night impregnated with coniferous, lavender and the Jove knows with what more aromas with the stars scattered on the black sky, such magic that adventures are out of place here, splash of sea waves in the darkness where the beacons wink at boats and mountainous islands darken, salty air, the beloved beside - and you are being lost in a nirvana.
  • These are the ten top islands and beaches in the world where people can sit back, relax, enjoy the sun, and wonder if they really should board that flight home.

    1. The Seychelles

Located off the east coast of Africa, these islands are pure paradise. If anywhere in the world would get me to give it all up and live in a beach hut, the Seychelles. Perfect beaches, perfect water, tons of islands to choose from and all the seclusion you want. The Seychelles are my dream and should be yours too. This group of 115 islands offers everything a beach lover could ask for. Sadly, these islands are pretty expensive but I guess there is a price to pay for paradise. The best time to visit is during the cool season from May to September, when it rains less.

    2.The Maldives

Located in the middle of the Indian ocean, this chain of 1,000 (200 are inhabited, and only 5 have any substantial population) is just a series of coral atolls that are barely above sea level. During the 2004 Tsunami, many of these islands were completely washed away. The government has build flood barriers to help lesson any future tsunamis. These little coral islands are surrounded by excellent diving and snorkeling, white sand beaches, and filled friendly locals. Private resorts litter the islands and a vacation here is also very pricey. However, Bangkok Airways offers cheap flights to and from Thailand. The best time to go to the Maldives is during November to May, when the weather is cool and dry. June through October sees wetter and hotter weather due to the monsoon season.

    3.Ko Lipe

Located in southern Thailand, this semi-off the map island is one of my favorites. Here on Ko Lipe, the super friendly locals bring in the daily catch for amazing seafood as the island’s water is teeming with life. Accommodation is still basic and most places turn off the electricity around midnight. Close to the island is an a little island that provides excellent snorkeling opportunities. You may even spot a few reef sharks. Bathtub warm water and fine sand beaches kept me here for over three weeks. It will do the same for you. Visit during in November or March for the best weather and the fewest people. May through October sees a harsh monsoon season that shuts the island down. (There is a last boat!!). The best way to get there is by boat from Pak Bara.

    4.Bali

This tourist mecca is voted one of the best islands in the world year after year. There’s enough room on Bali for everyone, the surfing is great, the food amazing, it’s dirt cheap, the parties are great, the locals some of the friendliest in the world, there’s a volcano to climb, temples to see- Bali has it all. Bombings in 2004 and 2005 back hurt tourism on the island but the government increased security and there has been few problems since. For those looking for a move active tropical vacation, Bali is the place to go. The weather remains pretty constant all year round, though April to October sees slightly drier weather.

    5.Fiji

Though this country has some 322 islands, less than a third are inhabited. Most of the action happens in western islands but no matter where you go this is heaven. Most young people head to the Yasawa Island group. Anytime the name Fiji is heard, visions of beaches and tropical ocean dance in people’s head. There’s good reason for that- because this place is one of the best places to go in the world and with so many islands, you’re bound to find one you like. It’s a popular destination with young people and honeymooners with something for anyone. The temperature remains mostly constant through the year with cyclones occurring between November and January.

    6.Tahiti

You know those pictures you always see of tropical bungalows in the water? That’s Tahiti. The name has long been synonymous with tropical paradise. One of the biggest honeymoon destinations in the world, Tahiti offers pure paradise and a lot of romance. Here you can relax in the sun, scuba dive, enjoy fine seafood, and take a morning dip right into the water from your bungalow. The island is expensive and caters to a more affluent tourist crowd. The weather is tropical all year round and very humid though May to October sees cooler temperatures.

    7.Big Island Hawaii

Hawaii’s biggest island has everything you could ever want to do and more. But what separates it from the other islands is Volcano National Park. Explore volcanoes, climb through old lava tubes, and watch as new lava oozes into the ocean. Then there’s all the waterfalls on the island too. Big Island has it all. I mean it’s Hawaii- how could you go wrong!? The west season is from October to March though the weather is cooler. However, despite being located near each other, weather conditions on each islands can vary greatly so you never know what to expect!

    8.The Cook Islands

Another south pacific island group (see a pattern here?), the Cook Islands are pretty far off the map. OK, not too far but they are considerably less visited than some of its neighbors. These tiny islands are named after James Cook, the intrepid man who discovered them. With few amenities, this place is the best place to find your inner cast away and escape modern life. The islands see similar weather to the rest of the area with temperatures hot and humid all year round.

    9.Curacao

Located in the Caribbean ocean, this Dutch owned island is prefect. Voted one of the best in the Caribbean, Curacao is like being in tropical Holland. The town is built in the Dutch style but the surrounding areas are all tropical. Hit the beaches, lay in the sun, and party the night away. This may not be Gilligan’s Island but what it lacks in privacy it makes up for in romance and fun. The weather is pretty stable here. It’s always hot and usually sunny. If it rains, it’s between November and January. Don’t worry about hurricanes- it’s below the hurricane belt!

    10.Perhentian Islands

Located on the eastern coast of Malaysia, the Perhentians are two islands. Both are stunning covered with a lot of palm trees, wide beaches, and crystal blue water. There’s not much to do here and visitors typically lay on the beach all day, resting from the night’s drinking before. It’s the perfect place to put up a hammock. A strong monsoon season limits when to go between March and October. During the other times, it’s best to head to Thailand where the weather is nicer.

    Causes of Diabetes Mellitus

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:46 am

Studies on diabetes mellitus are increasing all the mores. Despite these studies and investigations no one could actually recognize what specially causes the disease diabetes mellitus. This infirmity has led to a number of rumors circulating some which are incompletely factual and others which hold no such fact at all. Type-1 diabetes mellitus, or Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM), is unusually a disease distinguish by auto-destruction of the pancreatic beta cells that create insulin. With the procedure group silently destroys these pancreatic cells creating an insulin shortage.

Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus influence into view to stem from an inherited disorder in the immune system, triggered by a number of environmental stimuli. The actual occasion of the disease Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus is still unidentified; however, scientists have isolated a few issues that may be connected to maturing of the disease. Most of the people recognize that diabetes mellitus develops as a outcome of the insufficiency of insulin, which is a hormone that helps revolution blood glucose into energy. This is typically because the pancreas fails to generate sufficient amount of insulin or because the cells of the density begin to resist insulin. Although people know what leads to the development of Diabetes Mellitus they do not presently remember why this takes place in certain persons and not others.

Also people do not know the correct causes of Gestational Diabetes although it is powerfully associated with hormonal changes that take home during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. During this situation the placenta releases hormones which block the normal action of insulin hormone to become sure that the growing baby gets enough glucose. This type of diabetes causes pregnant women’s insulin wants to too by two or three times the normal rate. Failure to meet this insulin requires leads to the onset of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. Around 5% of in a family way women develop Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and although people have a good thought of what causes it, they do not know why it affects traditional women and not others. There are a number of connected threat factors in this disease but currently no perfect reason.

Sort 1 diabetes mellitus is caused by injure to the pancreas as the outcome of an auto-immune attack where the immune system of the corps begins to attack the insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas. Whilst most of the people know what deep down causes type-1 diabetes they are still uncertain what triggers this response. A number of medical suggestions have been put forward including viral infections and malfunctioning nerves, but presently none of these suggestions can be applied universally. Pre-diabetes is an early form of type 2 diabetes mellitus and the causes of each are exceedingly similar. Type-2 diabetes mellitus develops when the body prevents responding to insulin hormone. The pancreas cells reacts through producing surprisingly insulin hormone and the liver responds by releasing extra glucose. Over the time this situation limits the effectiveness of the pancreas and further increases insulin guerillas in the body. As with the other types of diabetes mellitus people do not recognize what really causes the above reaction. There is extremely combative evidence that type 2 diabetes mellitus is linked to family history, age, ethnicity, inactivity and obesity.

    Self-sowing flowers garden themselves

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:35 pm

Are you tired of playing nursemaid to flowers? Work and planning is unnecessary with flowers that self-sow, replanting themselves from seed every year. Count among self-sowers some annuals, biennials and perennials.

One favorite, twinkling up at you each spring with its starry, white-eyed, blue flowers, is forget-me-not. Nurture and plant it once, and a new crop appears each spring.

Also reliably coming back are calendulas, also known as pot marigolds.

There’s ferny-foliaged cosmos, as well as the old-fashioned bush balsam, with red, pink or white blossoms that resemble miniature roses.

Your job is, in late spring, to pull some out where they are overcrowded, and to pull all out where they are not wanted.

You may sense that self-sowing flowers walk a fine line between being garden plants and weeds.

Foxglove may be too freely self-sowing in your garden.

Nicotiana is also very free in this sense. But you may want to keep it around anyway so as not to miss out on its irresistible nocturnal fragrance.

Even charming, dainty flowers such as chamomile and Johnny-jump-up can be frighteningly prolific in an environment that is too congenial.

Be aware that offspring will not necessarily be identical to each other or replicas of their parent — definitely not if you begin with hybrids. But the resulting variability and reversion to wilder forms lend a relaxed, friendly air.

Fly Fishing - Choosing The Right Fly Fishing Rod

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:25 pm

In approach of the wide research done in fly fishing the number of fly fishing rod types in the market are quite large and you have a great option and brand names. The first aspect you have to consider is the weight and duty for which you are purchasing the fishing rod. They are generally available in gradations from 1 to 9 depending on their mass. Lower the numbers lower the weight and so on. The cast line is directly proportional to the fly rod weight and this is an important parameter.

Valuable features of a Fly Fishing Rod

The topic of choosing the most appropriate fishing rod that you can use in fly fishing can be quite complicated and you fundamental to logically understand the various features that are to be considered in the course of your choice. It is imperative to have the basic date on what the fishing rod is being worn for in terms of the fish species and the waters where you will sport for those kinds of fish. Finally one needs to stipulate the amount merit spending for all this gear in order to satisfy one’s craving for this sport.

    The Fishing Rod

The most important star of the fishing rod is its flexural characteristics. It is designated as slow to fast and you should try to understand this concept before purchasing a rod. The amateurs who have legitimate started fly fishing need to begin with medium or medium-fast action rods and graduate on to more polished construction as you gain more experience. It invariably depends on the aptitude of the angler and only a general guide line can be given since the the feeling and strength control of casting vary from person to person.

    What is your Fish?

The type of fish is all prominent to determine the quality of your fishing rod. Remember that the general maxim is to equate the weight of the fish to the weight of the fishing rod. Mostly it is expedient to use light to medium heavy fishing gear for many common fish. Always consult an expert or information on the Internet on the information pertaining to fish and fishing rod relationship.

Fishing Location and your Fishing Rod

The fishing rods depend also on the waters that you run-in for the particular species of fish. The dynamics of the ponds, lakes or rivers ascertain the weight of the casting rod and so does the climatic conditions at odd times of the year. Mild conditions and medium fish require light to medium heavy fishing rods whilst stormy climatic variations or high water current needs heavier varieties.

    Cost is always impressive!

Quality and cost never blend and one must find a good relationship by generalization technique. The common or let us say popular St. Croix Fly Fishing rod is unequivocally suitable for most of the angler’s needs. If you have more to spend then go in for the more expensive rods that will give you additional features and efficiency. It is your passion for trout that will make up one’s mind your attraction to a particular fly fishing rod!

    Emperor Penguins

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:22 am

DETROIT - Their young legs fresh and their confidence rising over 60 minutes, even with star center Sidney Crosby sidelined nearly two periods with a knee injury, the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup last night with a 2-1 victory over the defending champion Red Wings in a fast-paced and dramatic Game 7 to order viagra on line Backed by only 18 shots, two of them potted by pesky forward Maxime Talbot in the middle period, the Penguins won the Cup for the first time since the days when Mario Lemieux, now the club’s owner, marched them to championships in 1991 and ‘92. The Red Wings, their game as dull as their legs, didn’t keep pace through two periods and then fell short of salvaging a repeat amid a frantic third period in which Jonathan Ericsson cut the lead to 2-1 with 6:07 remaining. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 23 of 24 shots, including a last one at his doorstep by Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom with two seconds remaining. With 2:14 to go, Fleury was bailed out when Niklas Kronwall’s 35-foot wrister pinged off the crossbar. Evgeni Malkin, the league’s leading scorer during the regular season, was voted the Conn Smythe winner as the postseason’s MVP. The Penguins, who ditched their coach, Michel Therrien, in favor of rookie bench boss Dan Bylsma with 25 games left in the regular season, are the champs. The Wings, now undoubtedly in for a makeover, couldn’t clinch what would have been their fifth Cup in 12 seasons.

    Spicy and sweet

Pacheco was born in Mexico City and moved to California as a teenager. His Mexican roots come through in dishes that can be quite piquant — layered with heat and spice and sometimes surprising bursts of sweetness. One night, the soup du jour was a rich, dark puree of black beans with a pronounced chile kick, topped with tortilla strips and a drizzle of cilantro oil. Grilled Caesar salad is an appealing mix of long sections of charred romaine, creamy-spicy dressing and crunchy garlic crostoni. Pacheco’s signature sesame crusted salmon is nicely cooked, combining a crispy crust and moist, pink flesh. And a green curry beurre blanc makes a tasty accompaniment. But a strawberry red onion ragu, layered between the salmon and a scoop of sticky rice, is a rather jarring, pickled-sweet contrast.img_002

Other entrees include airline chicken breast, grilled flank steak with chimmi churrie sauce, panned seared snapper or sea bass, and grilled lamb loin with couscous.

Starters range from deep fried calamari and mini fish tacos to avocado spring rolls and a duck quesadilla.

House-made ice cream, such as cinnamon and vanilla raspberry, is a feature of the dessert menu.

Besides the usual omelets and Eggs Benedict, the Sunday brunch menu displays Latin and New Orleans influences, with shrimp and grits, huevos and chorizo, and enchiladas suizas.

Red plum sangria and a Key lime martini are among the offerings on the bar menu, along with a thoughtful selection of mostly California and South American wines.

World Leaders Wary of U.S. Economic Measures

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:05 pm

DAVOS, Switzerland — This was supposed to be the year the United States came in from the cold at the annual gathering of world leaders here. But instead of receiving a warm embrace, American policies were rebuked again and again in rhetoric that recalled the anger of the Bush years — mainly aimed at what the world views as the new threat of protectionism by the United States.

Certainly, there is a deep reservoir of good will for President Obama and the change in direction he represents. But despite the pledges to encourage international trade and economic cooperation that accompanied the closing sessions of the gathering, the World Economic Forum, on Sunday, there were clear signs that deep divisions between the United States and the rest of the world remained.02global

“There is such a level of concern, despair and anxiety that as welcome as the new president is, no one is inclined to cut the U.S. much slack,” said Richard Haas, president of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Or as Niall Ferguson, the Harvard historian, put it, “If G.M. got a new C.E.O., does that mean people would suddenly want to buy their cars?”

The criticism came from the usual sources, like Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and Premier Wen Jiabao of China, who both criticized a long pattern of excessive consumption, risky borrowing and inadequate regulation in the United States.

But more significant, the brickbats also came from economic and political leaders of European allies like Germany and France……………..

Whether the issue was the recent bailout for the American auto industry or proposals favoring American steel producers in the stimulus package now being debated on Capitol Hill, foreign officials warned that any move toward protectionism would have serious consequences for Washington and the rest of the world.

“We must not allow market forces to be completely distorted,” Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, warned in a speech on Wednesday. “For instance, I am very wary of seeing subsidies injected into the U.S. auto industry. That could lead to distortion and protectionism.”

By the weekend, as word of the “Buy American” provision in the stimulus package to help the United States steel industry spread through Davos, the tone had become sharper.

“It’s extremely preoccupying that one of the first acts of the new Obama administration could be a measure that is clearly protectionist and a distortion of competition,” said Anne-Marie Idrac, the French trade minister, who tried to draw Pascal Lamy, director general of the World Trade Organization, into the battle.

Mr. Lamy, however, said the organization would only act if there has been a “breach of the rules.” “I am not that big cop,” he added.

For all the global affection for Mr. Obama, Washington sent a relatively low-profile contingent to Davos, with Valerie Jarrett, a White House adviser, serving as the administration’s headliner here.

Ms. Jarrett did not address the issue of protectionism directly in her brief speech on Thursday, preferring to stick with the big picture as well as Mr. Obama’s connection to Chicago, her hometown.

Instead, the task of defending American economic policy fell to attendees like Representative Brian Baird, a Democrat from Washington State, who has served in Congress for the last decade.

“The steel issue is vastly overplayed here,” he said. “Even Adam Smith himself said certain key industries deserved to have protection.”

Noting that his district is home to two steel plants — down from three a few years ago — he added, “Steel is one of those industries.”

He suggested that this was not the time to push free-trade dogma on American taxpayers already worried about surging levels of unemployment.

“If you want to kill the W.T.O., that would be the way to do it,” he said.

Davos has always stood for globalization, and the benefits of free trade are an article of faith here. But even Davos die-hards concede that national economic interests have come to the fore amid the global downturn, and voter support for easing trade barriers is at low ebb.

To be sure, for all the foreign criticism over the help for the Detroit automakers, European countries including France, Britain and Sweden have offered up billions in aid for local auto manufacturers. What’s more, France has long protected the French companies it calls “national champions” from the threat of foreign takeover while providing huge subsidies for its farmers.

But beyond the public sparring, many foreign officials are also concerned about how the United States government will pay for Mr. Obama’s proposed stimulus package, which could ultimately cost $1 trillion.

A binge of new borrowing by Washington could effectively crowd out other borrowers by pushing interest rates higher over the long term, and would be especially painful for developing countries that rely on foreign capital. Or, it could stoke inflation when the global economy eventually begins to recover.

Ernesto Zedillo, the former president of Mexico who helped steer his country through a financial crisis in 1994, said developing countries were already having a hard time finding the capital they needed without competing with increased borrowing by the United States. And his country does not have the option of printing money, he said, because the Mexican peso is not a reserve currency like .

Even the praise for Mr. Obama from other leaders was balanced by criticism of Mr. Bush and past United States policies. “He seems to be very keen to interact with other nations as equals, rather than talking down,” said Kgalema Motlanthe, the president of South Africa. “It is a breath of fresh air.”

But for all the complaining from abroad, no other economic power — not Europe, not Japan and not China — seems ready to step up and fill the role traditionally played by the United States.

“The irony of the situation,” said Mr. Haas, of the Council on Foreign Relations, “is that everyone is still looking to the U.S. for leadership to fix things or at least make things better.”

Enjoy Your Gap Year With Travel Insurance

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:02 am

A Gap Year is a reverie for many. That precious year off between school and university, or increasingly these days the adult gap year - between one job and the next. Planning a gap year is provocative and thrilling - and little bit scary, all at the same time. The costs can add up, especially when you are looking at round the world airfares out of Australia, and European Contiki tours paid for by the Australian dollar.

One expense anyone planning a gap year should NOT scrimp on is tourism insurance.

Fortunately, there are specific long term travel insurance cover policies on tap. Here are some of the key features you should look for in insurance for your dream gap year:

    * online policy - dealing with real dossier is so last year! Easy to read documents anytime, day or night and an email contact can be so much easier!

    * greatest extent of policy – a travel policy should cover you for up to 12 months, and ideally you should be able to extend it while you are abroad

    * define “dangerous sport”. Travel insurance often doesn’t cover you for “unsafe” stuff like bungee jumping, white-water rafting, diving, horse riding – yes, justified about anything which is any fun at all! Make sure your travel insurance does!

    * high medical and hospital expense shelter - sure you’re not going to get sick - no one under 30 ever does right? Well actually no, wrong, but more to the point what happens if you get run over when you look the dishonor way before you cross the road? That could cost a second mortgage on your parents’ house just to get you home!

    * negative cash flow death of luggage - you aren’t going to be staying in the flashiest hotels, or even private rooms at times. Have you checked the bring in of all those electronic (and oh, so easily stolen) gadgets you plan to take: digital camera, laptop etc?

    * online minimize - you may be happy to say goodbye to study for a year - but make sure you shop around, especially online - there are some fantastic shabby student travel insurance deals out there! Just like the banks, the travel insurance industry wants YOU - or at least your expressly!

Although many young travelers plan to head off for their gap year without a care in the world, in fact, many more will need to line along the way. Working holiday schemes, SWAP programs and grandparents born in the UK are the gap year traveler’s best escort. A standard travel insurance policy may not cover you when you are waiting tables in a Greek taverna or pulling pints at a British pub. A solid gap year travel policy should cover you - so long as you are working legally.

Remember that all those carefully arranged plans you started with at domicile have a small chance of actually happening - gap year travel is all about spontaneity - planning to travel through China and ending up on a run aground in Goa, is just the sort of thing that happens! Your travel insurance needs to be just as flexible and cover you worldwide.

Oh and the one most grave reason you should get travel insurance for your gap year - your mother will be able to sleep at night!
