Memory Foam Mattresses

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:14 am

You press your hand into this soft yielding material and you feel it mould itself around the contours of your fingers. You take your hand away, but instead of the material springing back to its original shape, the shape of your hand remains there, moulded into it as if you had pressed your hand into soft sand. It is as though this strange material has memorised the shape of your hand. You continue to watch this ghostly shape, this three dimensional shadow of your hand, but it is changing. Gradually it fades away and the material returns to its original state. Eventually the memory of the shape of your hand has faded away completely. Your hand has been forgotten.

This strange material is memory foam, and from it are constructed some of the most comfortable mattresses available on earth. Its invention dates back to 1966.

Originally called Temper Foam, the material was developed for aircraft seats in order to make them more able to absorb shock and to thus offer greater degrees of both comfort and support in high G situations. Although designed for air bound applications, the material quickly established a niche in a large variety of earthly applications such as medical supports to prevent pressure sores, linings for sports shoes, and crash helmet linings. As the years have gone by, so many more applications for the material have been discovered, leading to the mattresses alluded to above.

The man responsible for this invention was known as Charlie Yost. What he created was polymeric memory foam with open cells. This particular material turned out to have some very special visco-elastic properties; it was soft to the touch yet it was capable of absorbing large amounts of stress. Pressure was evened out over the total contact area so it also provided a high degree of comfort; it was found that the material flowed to form an imprint of what ever was pressed against it and after the object was removed it would return gradually to its original shape.

When you enjoy a great night’s sleep on your memory foam mattress, it is Charlie Yost whom you can thank.

FatBurn7: Best Weight Loss Supplement Review

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:11 pm

FatBurn7 is one of the most intriguing weight-loss supplements currently available on the market. While there is no “miracle diet pill,” available on the market, FatBurn7 provides a great option in products to supplement your weight loss regimen.

FatBurn7 will assist you in achieving your weight-loss goals by tapping into its reservoir of mechanisms designed to physiologically attack fat and produce a net calorie reduction leading to weight loss. Included in these ingredients are Hoodia Gordonii and 5-HTP.

Hoodia Gordonii is widely supported as a useful appetite suppressant. It is a cactus like plant from the Kalahari Desert of South Africa that has long been used by the San Tribesman there as a source of sustenance. So how does it work? Well Hoodia Gordonii is believed to increase ATP in the hypothalamus of the brain and control appetite due to its p57 steroidal glycoside. In other words, as you eat there are nerve cells in your brain that detects blood sugar and signals to the body that you are full. Hoodia Gordonii suppresses your appetite by causing these nerve cells to fire telling your body that you are full without actually eating, therefore suppressing feelings of hunger. In a landmark clinical trial on lab rats, it was proven to reduce caloric intake by up to 60% within 24 hours of consumption. FatBurn7 has been found to be a good source of certified Hoodia Gordonii.

5-HTP is an amino acid found in the brain as an intermediary step between Tryptophan and Serotonin which regulates mood, sleep, and appetite. As an appetite suppressant, it works by boosting the brain’s Serotonin levels thus creating a feeling of satiety (fullness). It has been proven in clinical studies to reduce caloric intake by up to 22%. FatBurn7 is also a good source of 5-HTP and can help curb appetite and excessive carbohydrate cravings.

In addition, FatBurn7 has several other ingredients that you can find on their website http://www.fatburn7.com that has even greater utility in the fight against weight gain and healthy weight maintenance.

In summary, FatBurn7 is unique among weight-loss supplements, in that it consists of clinically supported ingredients and its manufactures do not make any unsubstantiated claims setting unrealistic weight-loss expectations. Instead, they promote using Fatburn7 along with lifestyle change as the most effective method of losing weight and achieving the best results possible.

    Political Donations Slide Amid Slump

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:10 am

WASHINGTON — Political fund raising has suffered a rare decline since Election Day as corporate political-action committees have trimmed campaign donations amid an economic slump.

Contributions from company PACs fell 6% to $8.2 million in the first two months of the year, compared with the same period in 2007, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of the most recently available fund-raising reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

That contrasts with big increases in corporate PAC donations at the start of the previous three election cycles. PAC donations by businesses jumped 37% in the January-February period in 2007, compared with the same period in 2005. In the first two months of 2003 and 2005, corporate PACs’ contributions increased by about 50% over the previous elections.

Campaign contributions from companies don’t come from the corporate treasury, but rather from management-level employees who pool their personal funds into a single fund-raising account called a political action committee. Those pooled funds have declined as employees “looking to trim their household budgets cut out the contributions they make to the company PAC,” said Sheila Krumholz, the executive director of the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.

Corporate PACs saw a 14% decline in employee contributions to $16.5 million in January and February, compared with the same period in 2007.

Pfizer Inc. led other companies with a $141,000 decline in PAC donations to $87,000 in January and February, compared with the same months in the last election cycle. “Pfizer is committed to making our voice heard in our nation’s health-care debate,” the company said in a statement. “Our PAC is bipartisan, and we are committed to supporting comprehensive health-care reform.”

PAC donations were down 80% at Chrysler LLC; 89% at U.S. Steel Corp.; and 28% at General Electric Co., according to the data. Spokesmen for Chrysler and GE declined to comment; a representative of U.S. Steel didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Several companies that were among the major donors in previous years have either filed for bankruptcy protection or no longer exist in their current form, such as Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and Bear Stearns Cos.

Companies that received funds from the Troubled Asset Relief Program showed a sharp drop, including Citigroup Inc., Bank of America Corp. and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. PAC donations by J.P. Morgan were down 75% to $20,000 in January and February from $81,000 during the same period in 2007, according to the data. Bank of America, Citigroup and J.P. Morgan declined to comment.

    Ecommerce Merchant Account Guidelines

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:10 pm

Getting setup to accept credit cards with a credit card merchant account is a relatively easy process and can be done without much hassle. I’ve put together this brief guide to introduce you to a few components of internet merchant account pricing and a couple of comparisons to Paypal which has a good service as well. The discount rate is typically what every merchant asks about when calling me for quotes. Although this is important, I can mark this down very low and still have merchants paying just as many fees as other providers. I guess what I’m trying to say is that don’t overlook other fees when faced with an "awesome" discount rate. Expect to pay around 2.1 to 2.5% for your qualified rate. Competitive rates are usually anything below 2.25%. Paypal doesn’t have a "qualified" rate as much as they just charge a flat rate of 3% which is on the high side. Paypal does a fantastic job of making things very simple and easy to manage. They’re higher priced on some things, but their simplicity makes up for some of the higher price.

A non-qualified or mid-qualified rate will usually add on an additional .5% to 1.5% for these transactions that are "downgraded" because they are either a rewards card which cost more to process or a government or business credit card. Each transaction also has a cost, no matter how much the volume of the transaction. Makes me laugh sometimes when I buy a $.49 refill at the local convenience store on my credit card because I know that they’re paying at least $.15 to $.18 per transaction if not a bit more which on a $.49 gross volume transaction, they’re probably losing money. No wonder they sometimes just smile and tell me it’s on them. Most internet based transactions run about $.20 to $.30 which is competitive when you compare to Paypal at about $.30 per transaction. Watch for AVS or the gateway transactions as they can easily get their advertised per transaction cost up there.

Batch header fees would probably considered by most merchants one of those "hidden" fees. This is a fee that most merchant don’t ask about and unless they look closely, don’t know about and never question. These batch header fees may be as much as $100 per year or so depending on how often the merchant processes credit cards. What happens is that transactions are batched together usually daily and submitted. Each one of these batches are assessed a batch header fee of about $.25. So, for an easy way to calculate this, if you process transactions every day, you’ll be paying $.25 per day. So, even on your busiest month, this fee wouldn’t exceed $8 per month.

Monthly fees for a traditional merchant account are usually around $20 or less. For a statement fee or account maintenance fee expect to pay about $10 and for an internet gateway, such as Authorize.Net, you’ll probably be paying an extra $10 as well. Work with your merchant account provider to waive the monthly minimum, especially if you’re an internet business processing less than $1000 per month in gross volume. If you’re processing over the internet with a traditional account, you’ll need a gateway. Authorize.Net is one of the more popular gateways and although some providers give this away for free, they have costs associated with this and will usually hit you with an annual fee or some other fees along the way to make up for this. Try to negotiate your monthly rates so that they are lower even if you end up paying a little more for the setup. Authorize.Net shouldn’t cost more than about $100 to setup. I’d recommend against leasing as you’d end up paying 5 times as much for the setup over the 48 month lease you’d be stuck with.

There are some advantages to Paypal over your more traditional merchant accounts. One such advantage is ease of use. Paypal is very user friendly and Authorize as a gateway would be a close second. Most shopping carts are compatible with both and include modules to be able to install both or either. Accepting credit cards is a necessary evil in today’s internet world, but can be done with very little hassle or headache.

Weight Loss: Number One Tip For Men

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:10 am

Big, tall, fat or skinny, the number one weight loss technique that has been proven time and time again is that of exercising. No matter how anyone says it, the only proven method for weight loss has and will always be regular exercise and a healthy eating schedule. Many companies will insist that a particular product or item is a proven weight loss product, but they can never back it up by any independent studies. Yet time and time again through various studies performed by many different independent programs, the only effective means of loosing weight has and will always be exercising.

Now this does not mean that you have to go out every single day and sweat so hard until you pass out. What it means is that you only need to do as much exercise as needed in order to burn of the calories that you have consumed every day plus a little extra.

Furthermore, you can help the process through changing your eating schedule. It is important to note that we are not talking about a diet, but rather changing the times in which you actually eat a meal. In today’s day and age, it is not uncommon for a man to eat 2 or maybe 3 meals every day at the most. They will attempt to eat until they are full and have to unbutton their pants button. This is what caused the weight gain in the first place.

When you have only a couple large meals everyday, the body goes into a preservation mode in which it stores up the extra energy in the body so that you have enough until the next meal 8 hours later. This extra energy is fat and in most cases it is the sugars in the meal. These sugars can come from anything including your beverages and your actual meal. By spreading out the meals and eating less every meal, your body will no longer need to store up anything because it will have plenty.

The goal you need should be to have 6 meals a day which consist of your regular daily intake spread out amongst them. It will be very hard at first since you are used to eating until you are full, but eating just enough to get rid of the hunger pains is all that you really need. Then you have to wait until the next meal. Also make sure that the last meal every day is smaller then the rest because you will be going to sleep and not actually doing anything so most of that meal is stored anyway. At the same time, your first meal needs to be larger to make up for the fact that you have not eaten all night long.

Couple this with regular daily exercise and in no time any man can begin to loose weight and achieve that desired body physique they have been looking for.

    Enjoying the Udzungwa Mountains Ecology

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:10 pm

Departing Dar by Safari Landrover is always a satisfying experience. One you have left the suburbs behind the plains open up in front of you and you begin to remember why you are here. There is a very satisfying feeling of the size of the wilderness into which you are heading. Rounding the Uluguru Mountians outside Morogoro I stared hard at the wispy cloud covering the peaks. Most of the forest was gone on the Morogoro side, used for firewood no doubt. ; The next exciting part of the journey was through Mikumi National Park. Elephants, buffalo, giraffe, baboons, eland and impala were all seen from the window as we passed through the park. The TANZAM highway passes through this park and there are a number of speed bumps to prevent roadkill incidents. This does not seem to work that well as the buses hurtle through at 120km per hour!

After stopping for a superb lunch of pizza and chips at kikoboga wildlife lodge we continued on into the Kilombero Valley. This valley is the largest seasonal wetland in East Africa and is the main regulator of the Rufiji River and hence the Selous ecosystem. The tarmac gave way to dust road and progress became slower despite our sturdy land rover and accomplished driver. On one side we passed the huge sugar plantations of the Kilombero. These vast mono-cultures make lots of money for a few individuals and provide subsistance level living for many others. They also are like a desert in terms of biodiviersity.

The udzungwas reared shear on our left as we crossed the Great Ruaha River via an old box girder type bridge. We immediately saw a sign for the Udzungwa Mountain National Park. We continued for another 35km along the dirt road and arrived at the Park Head quaters in Mangula. here we paid our entrance fees, picked up a guide before returning back to sart our climb up Sanje Falls. ; We started walking through Miombo woodland which slowly gave way to lowland tropical forest. It was hot until we got under the majestic canopy of these giant trees. Many had huge buttress roots creating natural sanctuaries for lizards, frogs and snakes.

Another thing that struck us was the large number of species of butterflies found in the forest at varying altitudes. This combined with the birds really made it clear that Udzungwa is one of the most diverse parks in Tanzania. ; We became aware of a mixed troop of black and white and red colobus up ahead – they stay together for mutual defence as they do not compete with one another as the former eats old leaves and the later new. The name ‘colobus’ comes from the Greek ‘colobe’meaning cripple – this is a misnomer as they are incredibly agile relishing the aboreal existance. The only time you see them afraid is when an eagle comes overhead, this causes them to descend fast from their dizzy heights.

On reaching the top of the falls we went for a swim in the plunge pool of a higher waterfall this was simply amazingg, cool fresh water washing away the sweat and grime of the climb. We found endemic african violets growing on the side of the fall in the spray zone. This was a very pleasant discovery. As the sun set we sat by a cracklng fire ad enjoyed a superb dinner. We shone torches around the vegitationa by camp and discovered many pygmy chamelons and treefrogs. We drifted to sleep to the sound of rushing water and the chitter of tree hyraxes.

Dawn found us sitting on the rocks above the 180m falls. Here we we watched the sun burn through the haze, a firey orb emerging to flood the plains with light. After breakfast we descende the train again looking for primates. We were treated to som guenons and vervet monkeys as well as black and white colobus. Udzungwa is a beautiful place with a lot to be said for it – I am looking forward to my next visit.
